Yizo Yizo Actor Christopher Kubheka Dies: Facts Surrounding His Death

Yizo Yizo actor Christopher Kubheka popularly known for his role as Gunman on the television series in the late 1990s is dead

The actor’s body was reportedly found in his Soshanguve home, north of Pretoria, yesterday. A neighbour who pleaded anonymity revealed that the lifeless body of the 48-year-old actor was discovered by his wife when she returned from work.

“His body was discovered by his wife at their home; it’s really bad. We were told about it around 4pm and we rushed to his home where we saw his body,” the neighbour said. “He was such a lovely person to be around. He was very loud but got along very well with everyone,” the neighbour told Sowetan.

Also, police spokeswoman Captain Rheineth Motlana confirmed that the actor was found dead and that an inquest docket has been opened to determine the actual cause of death.

Following the death of Yizo Yizo actor Christopher Kubheka, heartfelt tributes have been pouring in on social media. Terry Pheto, who worked with him on Zone 14, tweeted:

“Deeply saddened by the passing of #ChrisKubheka aka Bazooka, who played my cousin in Zone14. He made so many people Happy! #RIPBazooka.”

Tributes also came from other personalitites and fans.

Kubheka shot to fame with the much-loved TV series, Yizo Yizo, in the late 1990s. He satrred as Gunman, a troublemaker.

He also appeared in Zone 14 as Bazooka, a role which showed a different side of him as his character fell deeply in love with a girl from a well-off family.

His most recent role was Scar in Gold Diggers on e.tv. But Kubheka also did well in comedy productions, notably Vat ‘n Sit and Abo Mzala. His feature film credits include The Long Run (as Johannes) and Crazy Safari (as Fortune).

Meanwhile, initial investigations revealed that Kubheka commited suicide.

“His body was discovered hanging on a butler door. (Security door) He had used a tie to hang himself‚” said police’s Captain Mavela Masondo.

The investigation will still go on even though no foul play is obvious at the moment.
