DIY Miniskirt

How to make your old jeans into a miniskirt:

1. Mark the length you want on the inseam. Then, use a ruler and chalk to create a line that you’ll cut across.

2. Once you’ve cut off the excess length of each pant, cut along the inseam to open up each leg.

3. Cut two squares of extra fabric from the discarded leg pieces. These will be used to fill in the triangle gaps between the legs.

4. Sew (or glue) the squares on the underside of the skirt, filling in the gaps. Now you have a new skirt!

DIY Uneven Hem

1. Cut off the hem and discard it.

2. Measure 2 inches above the hem and mark with chalk.

3. Cut along the 2-inch mark in a straight line on the front of the pant legs only. Leave the back as is.

4. Pull at the hem to loosen up some threads for a distressed, frayed look.

DIY Fringe Hem

1. Cut off the hem of your denim and discard.

2. Measure 3 inches from the bottom of the jeans and mark it horizontally with a straight line of chalk.

3. Make evenly spaced, finger-width sections beneath the 3-inch line with chalk, then cut. Repeat so the front and back of each leg is similarly cut.

4. Shake the pants out like a dirty rug until they are fringey AF.

1. Using a ruler along the outer seam of your jeans, mark a width of 1 inch on both sides of the seam with chalk all the way down.

2. Apply two strips of painter’s tape where you marked the jeans, leaving the center exposed. Repeat on the other pant leg.

3. Carefully paint bleach onto the exposed seam of the jeans and wait for the color to lift.

4. Remove the tape.
