Prof Nyong’o Calls The Lupita HIV Positive Story ‘Fake News’
Prof Peter Anyang Nyong’o has rubbished the Lupita HIV positive story.
Oscar Award winning actress Lupita Nyong’o is alleged to have tested positive for the virus since she was 23.
American publication, Houston Chronicle, made the claim adding that she has been living a life enshrouded in secrecy about her status.

The publication also alleged that Lupita’s siblings had supported her when she made the revelation in 2015. She also apparently told the publication that she was infected by her ex-lover and was asked to keep silent about it:
“I told him and he told me not to tell anyone , I was so uncomfortable in my own skin and that is why I know what I’m doing is for the greater good.”
Her father has, however, come out to deny the story in an interview with SDE saying: “It is all nonsense!” Prof Nyong’o further added that the family was upset with the fake news saying that their daughter was HIV positive.
BuzzKenya can, however, verify that the article was fabricated.
The original article is a true story of South African Isindigo TV series with actress Lesegfo Motsepe disclosing her HIV+ status in 2011.

The article written by Monica Laganparsad says the actress who played Letti Matabane on the Isindigo TV series from 1998 to 2008 had kept her status hidden for 13 years. The names were changed in the article to read Lupita Nyong’o.
Other publications carrying the Lupita HIV positive story have said it could have stemmed from Lupita’s role in the TV series, Shuga.
In the show, she played Ayira, a lady who juggles two men and later discovers she might have contracted the deadly disease. The show’s numerous steamy sex scenes helped raise HIV/AIDS awareness.
