MMM Throws Surprise Party In Abuja, Osun

To commemorate Nigeria’s Democracy Day celebration, MMM-Nigeria organised a green party show in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Monday, May 29, 2017.

In the spirit of unity, the party which held at the Millennium Park was opened to members of the group and non-members alike, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports. Musicians, comedians and other entertainers in the FCT also performed at the event.

President of Abuja Guiders Forum of the MMM-Nigeria, Mr Seyi Bello said the gesture was in solidarity with Nigeria in celebrating 18 years of uninterrupted democracy.

“This party is put together to celebrate our Democracy Day and since Nigeria’s flag is green-white-green, we decided to call it ‘green party’ as a mark of solidarity.

“We invited everyone to be a part of this event because friendship and unity is what this community of mutual help represents.

“As a community, we do not only provide help to our members, we also extend that to the larger society as part of our social responsibility,” Mr Bello said.

While explaining that over three million Nigerians were members of the group, Bello faulted some people’s opinion about the scheme, clarifying that its a community where people provide financial help to each other on the principle of reciprocity and benevolence. Hear him:

“That is what defines us as a community of people providing financial help to each other on the principle of reciprocity and benevolence.

“In MMM, there are no lenders and no debtors. One participant asks for help, another one helps.”

In the spirit of democracy, Bello also called on leaders at all levels to deliver basic dividends of democracy to Nigerians, adding that the current recession was affecting ordinary Nigerians.

“As we celebrate democracy, let our leaders remember that we need a change in all aspects of our lives,” he said.

Similarly, in Osun state, a team of MMM guiders celebrated the democracy day through an awareness campaign aimed at informing the public that the platform was still on.

The guiders and participants held a rally from the stadium to the olaiya (freedom park).

Meanwhile, on Friday, officials of the Ponzi scheme in conjunction with a non-for-profit organisation – the Hope Givers Humanitarian Services, donated some educational materials to assist pupils in a primary school in Lagos state.

The gesture which was tagged: “Welcome Back To School” had a number of pupils in FOA Primary School 2, Okokomaiko, Iba Local Council District Area in Lagos receive school bags, exercise books, pencils and other learning materials.

According to Saheed Ahmed, an official of the NGO, the goal of the donation was to give the kids a sense of belonging, which will help them learn better and remain in school.

Explaining that his organisation funded the initiative by collaborating with bigger pockets like MMM, Ahmed said:

“What we do is to identify areas people are in need and once we do that we contact corporate platforms for sponsorship.

“In this case we contacted MMM for sponsorship since they are a humanitarian platform and they responded. We told them we had identified a school in our community that is in need hence we have provided all these for the betterment of the pupils today.

“A lot of the students here are in dire need of critical educational materials so the aim is to donate school bags, sandals, exercise books, sandals and stationary among other items to needy students so that they can have a sense of belonging.”
