Asari Dokubo Loses First Wife In Auto Crash
The first wife of ex-militant Mujahid Asari Dokubo, is dead. Alhaja Zainab Asari Dokubo, reportedly died alongside a friend in a motor accident on her way to Ibadan.
Confirming her death in a statement, the chairman Oyo state Muslim community, Alhaji Ishaq Kunle Sanni, said Zainab was already a Muslim years before she married Dokubo.

He said Zainab, who lived in Ibadan had to relocate to Yenagoa, capital of Bayelsa when she was appointed Secretary of the Muslims Pilgrims Board. “Even then, there was hardly any month she was not in Ibadan for one Islamic programme or the other,” he recalled.
She was a member of many Islamic organisations in Ibadan including Oluyole Muslim community under the Imamship of Imam Mudashir Bada.
“It is interesting she was coming to her preferred town, Ibadan when she met her destiny. May Allah accept her multifarious and multidimensional jihad as acts Ibadah and admit her to jannat Firdaous,” Alhaji Sanni said.
She was survived by four children Amirah, Hassan, Hussain and Osama.
Asari Dokubo is a renowned political figure of the Ijaw ethnic group in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. He was the president of the Ijaw Youth Council and later founded the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force which later became one of the most prominent armed groups that operated in the Niger Delta.
Asari originally was born into a middle class Christian family of a judge and his housewife in Warri, Delta State but later converted to Islam and became Mujahid Dokubo-Asari.

In the year 2013, Asari Dokubo declared he is now a citizen of Benin Republic where he has built several schools, colleges and a university.
