Operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department, CID, of Akwa Ibom State Police Command, on Thursday arrested four teenagers suspected to be trading in human parts.
The suspects were nabbed while looking for a buyer for the human skull in their possession. They are identified as Emmanuel Edet Ikot, 17, from Edeabasi, Oron; Ubong Udong, 18; Bright Effiong Okon, 19 and Okon Ita, 20, from Orukim.
The Akwa Ibom State Police Public Relations Officer, Delia Nwawe, who spoke on behalf of the Commissioner, Mr. Murtala Mani, said the suspects were arrested by officers of the CID of the command in Mbo Local Government Area on receiving an alert from vigilant youths in the area.

The alleged leader of the group, Emmanuel Edet, has however denied the accusation, saying he only stumbled on a human skull while working at an uncompleted building for a man (names withheld) in Oron.
Mr. Emmanuel Edet narrates that he was paid to cut grass and clean up an uncompleted building by one man in Oron and stumbled on a human skull while clearing the place. He says he then rushed to inform his friends of the discovery and went in the company of those friends to pick the human skull.
The gang leader says they decided to sell it after picking it but did not know of any possible buyer. One of them then suggested that it be taken to a native doctor in Mbo.
The four teenagers however met their Waterloo on their way to the native doctor’s place when the youth leader of Mbo apprehended and held them.
